The State of the art Asase Spa is the first to offer Garra Rufa fish pedicures in the heart of the fashionable Lanes in Brighton. The Garra Rufa fish originate in Turkey where they have been used therapeutically for the last decade. When one places one's feet in the tank of warm water containing the fish they gently remove dead skin. Initially used for the treatment of skin conditions, the accompanying benefits of leaving feet soft, supple, and more healthy has led to the growing popularity of their use as a spa treatment. This new spa treatment has been creating quite a stir, so I went along to speak to Bobby of Asase and try it for myself to find out what all the fuss is about.
The initial consultation and foot cleansing helps to reassure me of the safety of the treatment. It is incredibly relaxing, once the initial ticklishness wears off - like a gentle tingly massage, and it does indeed leave your feet soft and beautifully smooth.
One can while away the time with a complementary tea and magazine, have a chat with a friend or just gaze in fascination as the amazing little fish do their thing. Follow it up with a foot massage or any of the other traditional spa treatments on offer at Asase such as hot lava stone therapy, Indian head massage, Swedish body massage, and traditional pedicures for a truly relaxing pamper experience.
