A beautiful day for a run in the sun - The Brighton Half was blessed with blue skies and sunshine today and over 7000 runners started. I spent the morning on Madeira Drive capturing some of the off course action. A lot of hard work and preparation goes into running this event, and all credit to the staff, sponsors and many volunteers for running a beautifully smooth event.
The Sussex Beacon, which organises the event, raises funds for the charity's care centre for people with HIV.It hopes to raise about £50,000 from the half marathon, which was first held in the city in 1991.One of the things I loved about the day was that everyone has their own story of adversity to overcome and personal courage to summon, and though the media may concentrate their publicity on celebrity runners like Katie Price and Norman Cook, the most inspiring for me were those like the young girl who got out of her wheelchair to run the children's race. Well done to all of you!
