Burning the Clocks, Brighton. 21st December 2011
Thousands of people gathered in Brighton to witness the Burning the Clocks family solstice parade of lanterns and firework display. Parade participants created fabulous lanterns of wicker and paper which were carried from New Road through the Lanes and down to Madeira Drive and the beach. The lantern makers invest their lanterns with their wishes, hopes, and fears and then pass them into the fire. An antidote to the excesses of the commercial Christmas, this hugely popular annual community event is organised by Same Sky.
