Champagne and Sussex Sparkling Wine Festival, Hotel Du Vin, Brighton. Part of the Spring Harvest Brighton & Hove Food Festival



There can't have been any better way to celebrate Mother's Day than to spend it in the opulent Dome Room at the Hotel Du Vin sipping the worlds best champagne and sparkling wines whilst feasting on Oysters or an exotic seafood platter. Unless, that is, you were booked into one of the wonderful tutored tastings or masterclasses held during the day.
I still can't help feeling a little glow of pride knowing I live so near to the Sussex winery that won the trophy for the best sparkling wine in the world. Ridgeview's Grosvenor Blanc de Blancs 2006 triumphed over prestigious Champagnes and sparkling wines at that most respected of wine competitions the Decanter World Wine Awards in 2010. So it was wonderful to find amongst the tutored tastings and masterclasses of the day one with these fabulous wines, led by Charlie Holland of Ridgeview.

Just one of the many highlights to a brilliant festival of Champagnes and Sparkling wines that is itself a highlight of the wonderful Brighton & Hove Food Festival this week.
