Francois Monin, assistant bar manager at Lucky Voice, Brighton, sets a new world speed record for opening 2000 bottles of beer. He smashed the current Guinness World Record which stood at 28 minutes 11seconds by nearly 4 minutes, opening 2000 bottles in 24 minutes 37 seconds. The event was sponsored by and held at Azure bar and restaurant on Brighton beach between Brighton Pier and the Brighton Wheel and was also sponsored by Asahi beer. Independent adjudicators were Cllr Denise Cobb, deputy Mayor of Brighton, and Felice de Luca of the Amsterdam Hotel. Mixology Group's Myles Cunliffe coordinated the bar staff replenishing bottles.
