2013-02-12 My Doggy Valentine Dinner at the Coal Shed, Brighton

Owner of the Coal Shed restaurant in Brighton, Razak Helalat and Marc the Vet - Marc Abraham of Grove Lodge Vets - came up with a fun way to raise funds for Dog's Trust Shoreham holding a Valentines dinner for dogs and their owners. Brighton's canine society, from rescue dogs to pampered pooches and their friends tucked into a fabulous steak dinner - something the Coal Shed is famed for in Brighton. A bracer of bubbly followed by steak and chips for the humans whilst for the happy hounds it was venison liver treats then steak with rice and veg. To finish whilst the humans had coffee and chocolates the happy hounds polished off gallons of Billy & Margot's Iced Treats - a doggy healthy version of ice cream. A raffle was held, first prize being a portrait painting of the winner by renowned animal artist Sara Abbott, which was won by Buster, a cheeky young puggle [pug x beagle pup], and there were doggy goody bags to take home for everyone. It may seem like a barking mad idea but was actually a howling success and raised hundreds of pound for the Dogs Trust.
Come Dine with Your Doggy Valentine was held at The Coal Shed, 8 Boyce's Street, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1AN Tues 12th February 2013 more info visit: www.coalshed-restaurant.co.uk www.grovelodgevets.co.uk www.billyandmargot.com www.sara-abbott.com
