Organised by TV's Marc the Vet [Marc Abraham] and a willing team of celebrity and lesser known volunteers, Pup Aid 2011 at Stanmer Park Brighton was once again a huge success. The celebrity judged fun dog show and music festival, held to raise awareness about puppy farming, was officially opened by Brighton & Hove's mayor Councillor Anne Meadows.
Amongst the celebrity judges for the fun 'Scruffts' classes included Kate Shapland, Chris Ellison, Patsy Palmer, Mark Williams, Jasmine Harman, Meg Mathews, Lady Colin Campbell, Andrea Fox and Pippa Langhorne.
There were displays by the Hearing Dogs Team and an emotional parade by Rescued ex Puppy Farm Breeding Bitches. Fittingly the winner of the Sweetest Chocolate Labrador class, sponsored by Choccywoccydoodah, was Linzi Follett with her 4 rescued puppy farm bitches. Brighton & Hove Festival of Food and Drink ran a "Dogs Dinner" competion in which t.op Brighton restaurants competed to find who made the doggy snack most favoured by a team of 3 human and 3 canine judges. Gifts generously donated by local businesses and celebrity friends of Pup Aid were raffled and a wonderful line up of bands completed the days festivities: Common tongues, Conrad Vingoe, Autumn Red, Bitter Ruin and Los Albertos, with a special guest appearance from "Pip and Pup". I had so much fun I already can't wait till next year!
